Volunteering...
I started my volunteer hours this morning at Arizonan's for Children. I need 240 hours of volunteer work to graduate so I better start now. This is a place where parents and children can come to meet and visit under supervision. They are in a situation where the child or children have been removed from the home by CPS and the parents are close to getting their kids back. They come to a church where they can play with their kids and interact but it is supervised by a CPS worker. I am a second set of eyes to make sure the child is in a safe environment and that there isn't any inappropriate behavior going on with the parents. I also do things like make sure the the alarm is off, the doors are unlocked, and the facility is clean. I make sure the parents are cleaning up after themselves and I also watch to make sure the parents don't show up under any drug or alcohol substance. If so I have to tell the CPS worker and they may cancel the session. It's great to see the interaction between the parents and child. The children are so happy to see their parents and its great to see them getting close to being a happy family again!

Something to ponder: Why is it that when you are driving and looking for an address you turn the radio down?

Sounds like a very rewarding job. Are you scared of the parents at all? Also concerning turning the radio down: I personally can only use one sense at a time. As Sesame Street says, "Put down the duckie if you wanna play the saxophone."
That job sounds kind of scary to me. Knowing that those kids futures rest on your observations would be too much for me to handle. Good for you. Good luck:)
